A/N: Double drabble.
Working for Torchwood, even when things were slow the team could never completely relax. Day or night, at work, home, on a date, or fulfilling family obligations, every member knew they could be called on at any moment to help avert a crisis, so a part of them was always poised, ready to spring into action. Delaying could result in loss of innocent lives, or in the worst-case scenario, the end of the world as they knew it.
The strident ringing of their mobile phones, which were never switched off, dragged four people from their badly needed sleep: there’d be no more rest tonight. They were out of bed and reaching for their clothes even as they listened to their boss, the rush of adrenaline bringing them to full wakefulness.
Invasion.
Well, if these would-be invaders thought they’d catch earth’s defenders napping by showing up in the early hours, they were in for a big surprise!
Hours later, as the sky began to lighten with the coming dawn, Team Torchwood, battered and bloody but unbowed, set about cleaning up the resulting mess.
“We should’ve made them pick up after themselves,” Ianto muttered sourly.
“Just be glad they’re gone,” Jack replied.
