A/N: Triple drabble.
Ryo honestly didn’t mind spending his day off with Dee at the orphanage, helping his partner carry out some minor repairs. It made no sense for Mother to pay a plumber or an electrician when Dee could do the work just as well himself, without charging her a penny. Mother had more than enough expenses as it was, raising at least a dozen kids of various ages, and she was Dee’s family, so the two of them were happy to do anything they could to help out.
Besides, Ryo enjoyed watching Dee fix things, and admired his lover’s many and varied skills. From what he’d seen over the years, there wasn’t much Dee couldn’t turn his hand to, and Mother wasn’t the only one who’d benefitted from his talents as a handyman.
“Can ya hand me the torque wrench?” Dee’s voice came from under the sink in one of the orphanage’s upstairs bathrooms.
Without having to think about it, Ryo reached for the correct tool and passed it to his lover.
“Here you go.”
“Thanks, babe.”
“You know, it’s funny; before I met you, I wouldn’t have known what any of these things were called, never mind what they’re used for.”
Dee glanced back over his shoulder, grinning. “You make a great assistant. Stick with me, and before long you’ll be carryin’ out repairs on your own.”
“I don’t know about that; I’m probably better with a needle and thread than a torque wrench and a hammer. I know my limitations.”
“Between us, we can fix pretty much everything, you sewin’ on buttons and mendin’ seams, me fixin’ leaks and replacin’ hinges.” Dee handed the wrench back and slid out from under the sink, sitting up and wiping his hands on a rag. “We make one hell of a team!”
