A/N: Double drabble.
“What the fuck is that?” Owen said when he and the rest of the team arrived at the coordinates of the latest Rift event. Ianto was glad the medic had asked since it meant he didn’t have to do so himself and could keep his scarf cosily wrapped around his lower face against the frigid air.
The being was at least eight feet tall but probably closer to nine, its skin and long, straight hair were a bluish white, and its only clothing was a sleeveless tunic that reached to mid-thigh. Its bare feet were more like lightly furred paws, and its legs bent strangely, but other than that it looked more or less like an oversized human.
It stood on the frosty grass, looking around curiously, but not making any threatening moves. Judging by its clothing and behaviour, it was a member of a sentient but probably not technologically advanced alien race.
“That,” Jack said, “is an ice giant, adolescent most likely; a fully grown adult would be a few feet taller.”
“Are they dangerous?” Gwen asked.
“No, they’re primitive but quite peaceful people. Just whatever you do, don’t tell it to freeze.
“Why not?”
“Weather’s cold enough already.”
