“It’s not permanent!” Jack hastened to reassure everyone, although nobody looked particularly reassured. “It should wear off in a few hours. A day at most. The pollen of the Arka Lily affects some people differently; she seems to be extra sensitive, and not in a good way.”
“Permanent or not, we can’t leave her running around loose,” Ianto pointed out, wielding an office chair in self-defence as he tried to drive Gwen into the corner beside the photocopier. “Not like this.”
It was fortunate only a handful of people had been in the office when the Rift had delivered its gift, and they were just lying on the floor giggling. Gwen had dashed in to help them, going straight through the cloud of pollen, and now she… wasn’t quite herself. She growled, snapping at Ianto’s chair. She had already bitten two of the office workers.
Tosh had dealt with the flower, fastening a plastic bag over it in case it expelled any more pollen. Owen was busy treating the injured.
“We’ll just have to treat her like a Weevil,” Jack said, producing a hood and hand clamps. “Secure her and lock her in the cells until the effects wear off.”
