A/N: Double drabble.
The new Weevil hurled itself aggressively at the deceptively thin Perspex barrier at the front of its cell, only to rebound off it. The stuff Torchwood used was bonded at a molecular level with certain alien materials that made it unbreakable, so the creature was wasting its time. It would never break through, but it didn’t know that. It just kept trying, over and over, while Ianto stood inches away with a bored expression on his face.
“What’re you doing?” Owen asked.
“Waiting for him to get tired. I’m not feeding him until he gives up.”
“Why don’t you snarl at him, show him you’re tougher than he is, make him back down?”
“Doesn’t work with most Weevils, just gets them more worked up. Back off and they think they’ve won, snarl back and they think you’re challenging them to single combat. Act bored and they get confused. They’re used to triggering a fight or flight response in humans.” Ianto even sounded bored, totally unbothered by the Weevil’s repeated assaults on the barrier.
Eventually it withdrew to the back of the cell. Opening the door, Ianto slid the food in.
“Reverse psychology, huh?” Owen commented.
Ianto shrugged. “Of a sort.”
