Nosy was alerted to the problem by a muffled but faintly distressed squeak, and a vague feeling of constriction. It sighed in mild exasperation; apparently it hadn’t done a particularly good job when it was budding its first Flufflet, which was perhaps to be expected since it had no experience and there weren’t any others of its kind available to offer advice.
Nevertheless, next time it would pay particular attention to imbuing its offspring with common sense, since Dizzy seemed to be noticeably lacking in that department. Giving itself a shake, Nosy slithered away to find out what kind of predicament the youngster had got itself into this time.
When Nosy finally located Dizzy, it found its Flufflet wedged into a small gap in the wall like a fluffy cork in a bottle, a situation that was less surprising than it should have been. Dizzy found holes of all kinds irresistible.
“HUMM!” the Fluff said sternly.
“squeaksqueaksqueak.”
At times like this, Nosy wished it could roll its eyes the way Ianto did. Instead, it grasped its Flufflet’s tail firmly in its mouth and gave it a hard yank. Dizzy shot out of the hole, rebounding off Nosy’s snout.
Problem solved.
