FAKE Triple Drabble: Empathy

A/N: Triple drabble.
Ryo can’t help feeling sorry for JJ, even though he’s sure JJ wouldn’t appreciate the pity. It’s just that he knows how it feels to love Dee, and the thought of loving his partner and not having that love returned is chilling.
There have been a few occasions when he and Dee have fought, loud and bitter arguments where they’ve thrown hurtful words at each other like bullets, resulting in one or other of them storming out. As soon as he’s been alone Ryo has regretted every harsh word spoken in the heat of the moment, terrified that he might lose the man he loves. It hasn’t happened, every time they’ve made up and reaffirmed their love, and yet it’s given Ryo some insight into JJ’s plight.
He doesn’t doubt JJ’s love for Dee, although it’s bordering on an obsession. Dee is just the kind of man who inspires that level of admiration. He can be a pain in the ass, but he’s a good, caring, and honest man who helps others in any way he can. It’s really no surprise that Dee’s heroic act of saving the younger man from a beating at the hands of a bunch of homophobic assholes has earned him JJ’s undying devotion, however inconvenient it might be for Dee.
Truth is that Ryo likes JJ and hates to see him hurting. He suspects that deep down Dee feels the same way, he’s simply not attracted to his unwanted admirer and doesn’t want to do anything that might encourage him. Trying to let him down gently has never worked, so Dee has resorted to yelling, which just hurts JJ’s feelings even more.
It makes Ryo feel a bit guilty, but he knows even if he’d never met Dee, JJ still wouldn’t win his hero’s heart.
