“Hey, what’cha lookin’ at?”
Ryo was so involved in reading the flyer on the noticeboard that he hadn’t even heard Dee come up behind him, so when his lover’s hand slapped him lightly on the shoulder and Dee spoke practically into his ear, he gave a strangled squeak and jumped halfway out of his skin, spilling his coffee.
Naturally, Murphy’s law dictated that the drink went all over Ryo’s clothing, soaking his shirt and pants, while not a drop got on the one responsible for the spill. At least the coffee was only lukewarm by this point, so it didn’t burn him.
“Dee!” Ryo turned an exasperated glare on his lover. “Now look what you made me do! You about scared the life out of me!
“Oops, sorry.” Dee grinned sheepishly. “I’ll get ya another coffee.”
“Are you gonna get me a change of clothes as well?” Ryo gestured at his dripping shirt.
“Don’t ya have somethin’ in your locker?” Ryo was usually prepared for all eventualities.
“A spare shirt, but no pants. The zip broke. Don’t ask.” Ryo sighed heavily, shoving the mostly empty coffee cup into Dee’s hand, and tugging the wet fabric of his pants away from his leg. “This is not my day.”
“I didn’t mean to make ya spill your drink. Thought you’d seen me come in. I’d loan ya the jeans from my locker, but they’d be a bit long on you.”
“There should be an overnight bag in the trunk of my car…”
“Gimme your keys, I’ll go get it. Assumin’ you drove to work this morning.”
“I did. Thanks.” Ryo dug his keys out of his pocket, handing them over. All this because he’d been considering whether to sign up for a charity run. Probably be safer for everyone if he didn’t.
