A/N: Double drabble.
Cardiff Bay was a bit choppy, but not overly rough, which was fortunate. Thankfully they weren’t on their way out to Flat Holm Island with a new Riftugee, or even making a supply run. Instead, team Torchwood were on a fishing expedition, off to collect something the Rift had unhelpfully dumped a mile or so offshore.
Tosh was back at the Hub, using orbiting satellites to locate the item, which was buoyant enough that it was bobbing about only half submerged. That should make it easier to retrieve. If it had sunk, one of the team would have had to don scuba gear and dive for it.
There’d been a storm the previous night, so the team were also fishing out any floating debris that might cause problems, but despite the care they were taking they must have missed something because there was a heavy thud, and then…
“Um, Ianto?” Jack said. “We’ve sprung a leak.”
Ianto glanced over from the helm; the boat rocked, and more water poured in.
“Don’t just stand there looking at it! Find something to plug the hole!”
Jack hesitated, then sat on it. “That should hold it. Rear of the Year to the rescue!”
