Ryo frowned at the pattern in front of him, wondering why he’d picked something this complicated. The picture on the front hadn’t looked so difficult when he’d chosen it in the shop, but now…
Mother had been teaching him to knit, whenever he’d had time to spare, and she’d been available. He knew all the basic stitches, could cast on and off, and understood about shaping, even though he hadn’t needed to do any of that on the scarf he’d knitted for Dee. He knew how to read a pattern as well, but this one still made no sense.
He wasn’t about to give up though, he intended to master it even if it killed him. He was going to be a grandpa, and since there wasn’t a grandma on his side of the family, making something for the baby fell to him. He flatly refused to be upstaged by Carol’s aunt! As much as he liked her, he’d seen how amused she’d been at the idea of a man knitting baby clothes. She thought he couldn’t do it!
“Purl fifteen together? That’s impossible… or is it?” Something clicked in his head, making him smile. “Oh, now I get it!”
