A/N: Double drabble.
It was completely insane; they were mortal enemies and had been since the first time they’d laid eyes on each other. A Slayer and a soulless vampire couldn’t be allies, and yet here Spike was, expecting her to trust him, expecting her to believe that he wanted to defeat Angelus and save the world! Buffy couldn’t help wondering if she’d hit her head and was hallucinating, or maybe she’d fallen into an alternate reality…
Yet the more Spike talked, the more sense he made. He liked the world exactly the way it was, with all the humans just waiting to be his next meal whenever he fancied a bite. And then there was Drusilla. Angelus had her, and Spike wanted her back. He was pathetic, and she didn’t care about his love life, but he was right about one thing: by themselves, neither of them stood a chance against Angelus and Drusilla, not now that Dru had regained her full strength.
Buffy didn’t think she’d ever hated Spike more. He was a monster, but she needed him.
Enemies though they were, right at that moment their goals were the same, even if their motivations were worlds apart.
“All right. Talk.”
