“Come on, Dee. Again!” Ryo urged, getting into position. “This was your idea, and you’re not going to get anywhere if you’re not willing to put in the work.”
Dee groaned. “What was I thinkin’? Must’a taken leave of my senses.” He struggled to his feet on the exercise mat and winced. “Didn’t think you’d be such a slavedriver.”
“Learning martial arts requires dedication and determination. Most people start early, when they have the flexibility of youth on their side, but you don’t have that advantage, so you need to practice. The more you work at it, the easier it will get, until the movements become automatic, but to get to that stage…”
“Yeah, I know: Practice makes perfect. Okay, gonna be one big bruise by the time you’re done with me, but I’m as ready as I’m ever gonna be.”
Three days later, Dee rolled over on the bed, grinning. “Ready to go again?”
Ryo groaned. “For pity’s sake, Dee! You could at least let me catch my breath first! You’re insatiable.”
“Hey, just returnin’ a favor. You’re teachin’ me, so I’m teachin’ you.”
“Killing me, more like.”
“Sex is like anything else; gets better the more ya practice.”
