A/N: Triple drabble.
Visiting time, and the maternity ward was bustling, full of new moms and their babies, their partners, families and friends, and the nurses dodging back and forth doing their jobs. Nevertheless, it was easy for Ryo and Dee to find Carol. Even sitting down, Bikky was taller than anyone else in the room.
They wended their way past the other visitors, Dee lugging the massive and unwieldy teddy bear he’d bought, until they reached the bed where Carol, looking radiant but tired, sat propped against pillows, cradling her new-born son.
“Dad!” Bikky jumped to his feet to hug his foster father, towering over Ryo and even making Dee look small. “I can’t believe you came all the way from New York!”
“Did you honestly think I wouldn’t want to meet my new grandson right away?” Ryo handed over his own, much more practical gift, a bag crammed with baby necessities; diapers, wipes, pacifiers, some cute baby onesies… “Congratulations, both of you. Here, I thought you could probably use these.”
“Thanks, yeah, everything helps.”
The young couple might not have intended to start a family while Bikky was still in college, but it had happened, and Ryo knew the kids would be fine. Carol’s aunt Elena had moved to L.A. to help, so Carol and Bikky were living with her for the time being.
“How come you’re not holdin’ your kid, givin’ his mom a break?” Dee asked, plonking the teddy bear on the end of the bed.
“Bikky’s afraid he might break him,” Carol giggled. She held the baby out to Ryo. “Would you like to hold him?”
“You bet I would!” Ryo carefully accepted the blanket-wrapped bundle. “Have you decided on a name yet?”
Bikky nodded. “Jordan David Goldman Maclean.”
Ryo smiled, tears sparkling in his eyes. “He’s perfect.”
