On Valentine’s Day, Ryo checked his mailbox before heading to work, just as he always did. Most days there was only junk mail, but this time there was an envelope containing a Valentine’s card. It wasn’t signed, just said ‘From your Valentine’, but there was only one person who could have sent it, and there was a spring in Ryo’s step as he made his way down the stoop. Dee was just so sweetly romantic.
The partners were currently working different shifts, Ryo arriving at work after Dee already left. It sucked a bit, but it was okay since they were having dinner together later, and they had the following day off.
The workday flew by. Ryo rushed home to get ready for his date, and at 7pm there was a knock on the door. Dee stood there with chocolates, flowers, and…
“Two Valentine’s cards?”
Dee was confused. “Whaddaya mean two?”
“I got one in the post this morning; thought it must be from you.”
“Why would I post one when I was gonna be seein’ ya?”
“I don’t know. So who sent it?”
“Your not-so-secret admirer?”
Ryo huffed, annoyed. “I’m your Valentine, not Berkeley’s!”
“Glad to hear it, babe.”
