Summary: Ryo’s the one who’s injured, so why is Dee feeling sorry for himself?

A/N: Double drabble.
Lying in his hospital bed, Ryo couldn’t help thinking he should be the one complaining about the current situation, not Dee.
“It just sucks, is all,” Dee grumbled, slumped in the chair by Ryo’s bedside. “I hate bein’ lumbered with newbies, which is exactly why the old badger dumped him on me.”
“Is this new detective really so bad?” At least Dee’s complaints were taking Ryo’s mind off his injury. The stab wound was bad enough that he’d be in hospital for a few more days, before spending a week at home, and then a further week to ten days on desk duty. “I mean, you trained me.”
“You were easy, you picked things up like that!” Dee snapped his fingers. “Never had to tell ya anything more than once. This guy, I’ve had to walk him through every bit of paperwork he’s had to fill in, explain procedure over and over… How he managed to pass the exam in the first place, I have no idea. He’s hopeless!”
“Still, it could be worse.”
“Worse? I don’t see how!”
“Chief Smith might have given Drake the new hire and partnered you with JJ.”
Dee paled. “You’re right, that’d be worse!”
