A/N: Double drabble and a half, 250 words.
Sometimes Dee wondered about the intelligence of the average criminal. Sure, there were some wily ones out there, the ones who were well organised, planning every detail of their crimes in advance, and covering their tracks with meticulous care. But then there were guys like this one.
Armed with a handgun and wearing a gorilla mask, he’d burst into the corner store just before closing time and demanded the contents of the register be put in his bag. The terrified shopkeeper had done as she was told, then the masked man had snatched up the bag, turned around, run from the shop, and slammed headfirst into a signpost because his mask had slipped, and he couldn’t see where he was going.
He’d knocked himself out cold, and by the time he regained consciousness Dee and Ryo, who’d been nearby when the call had come in, were standing over him, guns drawn.
“You ever considered maybe you’re just not cut out for a life of crime?” Dee asked mildly, amused, looking down at the would-be criminal mastermind, a skinny youth with bad acne. Ryo had stripped the mask off him as soon as he and Dee had arrived on scene, needing to check he hadn’t done himself any serious damage headbutting an immovable object.
The kid groaned. “My head!”
“Only got yourself to blame. Maybe that’ll teach ya not to break the law. Come on, up ya get. We’ll swing by the ER, get ya checked out before we book ya. “
