When the doorbell rang, Ianto wasn’t especially pleased to find his sister on the doorstep. After the exhausting day he’d had, the last thing he needed was one of her well-intentioned but intrusive interrogations.

“Whose birthday did I miss this time?”

“Nobody’s yet, but it’s David’s in a couple of weeks. I was in the neighbourhood, so I thought I’d remind you.”

“I haven’t forgotten; I already bought his presents.”

Rhi looked him up and down in a way that made Ianto feel distinctly uncomfortable.

“What? Do I have sauce on my tie or something?”

Heaven forbid THAT should happen! He was always careful to use a serviette in case of drips.

“Nothing like that. You’re looking very smart though. Got a hot date tonight, have you? Maybe taking some lucky girl out to a fancy restaurant?”

Ianto rolled his eyes. “I just got home from work, haven’t had a chance to change yet.”

“You seriously dress like that for work? What do you wear on dates, the crown jewels?”

“Jeans usually, unless we’re going to a fancy restaurant, in which case I’ll wear one of my best suits.”

“Better than that one?”

“What’s wrong with appreciating good quality tailoring?”
