“The kid’s a crook,” Dee grumbled, dropping onto the sofa beside Ryo. “Always knew he was, but now I’ve got proof!”
Ryo looked up from the book he was reading. “Bikky beat you again, did he?”
Dee stared at his lover incredulously. “Ya even haveta ask? People the other end of the block can probably hear him.”
Bikky was doing his victory dance while throwing insults at Dee, ‘Loser’ being the kindest.
“I’m learning to tune you two out. So, how many times is that?”
“Five.”
“Six!” Bikky corrected. “Wanna try again?”
“The way you cheat? No way, I’m done!”
“But there’s nothing else to do except stay in and play games!”
Outside, New York was being battered by torrential rain.
“That ain’t my fault.”
“You know what your problem is? You’re a sore loser. Ryo, d’you want to play against me? I’ll let you win.” Bikky offered him the game controller Dee had been using.
“Hey! How come you’d let Ryo win but not me?”
“’Cause he’s my dad.”
“That’s favouritism.”
“Yep!”
“Why don’t we get out a board game we can all play?” Ryo suggested, setting his book aside.
Dee grinned. “Maybe we can beat ya at Clue.”
