A/N: Double drabble.
Arriving at the precinct, Ryo was surprised to see Dee already there, although true to form he wasn’t actually working. He was slumped over his desk, head resting on his folded arms.
“Morning, Dee. You’re early.” The only reply he got from his partner was a muffled grunt. “Are you okay?”
“Headache. And before ya say anything, no, I’m not hungover.” Dee raised his head to stare blearily across at Ryo. “Power company started rippin’ up the street outside my place around six this mornin’. Couldn’t sleep through that so I figured I’d come in early, get some peace and quiet, but on the subway I had this hyperactive rugrat screamin’ in my ear the entire time, and then the little monster hit me in the face with a plastic dinosaur. Could’a taken my eye out, and all the time, the mom was on her phone, ignorin’ her kid! Some people shouldn’t be parents.”
Seeing the bruising across the bridge of Dee’s nose and around his eye, Ryo winced; no wonder Dee had a headache.
“Ouch! Did you put ice on that?”
“Yeah.” Dee lifted the icepack off his desk, pressing it to the bruises again. “I really hate kids.”
