A/N: Double drabble.
Noticing the date in the corner of his computer screen, Ianto was surprised to realise it was Lisa’s birthday. Losing track of the date wasn’t unusual, there were times when the pace of life with Torchwood was so frenetic he couldn’t have said with any certainty what day of the week it was or, if he was inside the Hub, whether it was day or night, but to forget that Lisa’s birthday was coming up…
He waited, almost holding his breath, but the familiar ache in his heart simply wasn’t there. All he felt was a vaguely sad wistfulness as he thought about her. She would have been twenty-eight today, she’d been gone almost four years.
Did he still miss her? Yes, a little, but not the way he once had. He’d loved her deeply, lost her, mourned her and the life he’d hoped they would have together. Mourned as well the children they would never now have. The course of his life had changed completely the day the Cybermen had come, then changed again when what was left of the woman he’d loved so much had finally died.
But he’d moved on; it no longer hurt to remember her.
