A/N: Triple drabble.
Lying in his big bed, with Bikky and Dee sleeping beside him, Ryo was feeling more than a little confused over exactly how he’d wound up in this position. It was hard to believe he’d arrived for his first shift at his new precinct just this morning, that a scant few hours ago the two people sharing his bed with him had been complete strangers.
Now Dee was his work partner, and Ryo was seriously considering becoming Bikky’s legal guardian. The boy didn’t have any living relatives; he needed stability, and someone to believe in him, preferably someone who understood what it was like to lose a parent so suddenly and senselessly.
Becoming a single parent was a big step to take, but Ryo was sure he could handle it. Dee, on the other hand…
Ryo had expected to be partnered with a senior detective, someone with a decade or two of experience, not some young hotshot with no respect for personal space. Worse, Dee was a very attractive man. He was loud and brash, and way too cocky, yet still somehow impossible to dislike.
Try as he might to push them away, traitorous thoughts kept filling Ryo’s head, making it impossible for him to drift off to sleep, even though he was exhausted. Honestly, what had possessed him to invite Dee to sleep over? Okay, yes, they were both responsible for keeping Bikky safe until the people who’d killed the boy’s father could be identified and arrested, but still, Dee could have slept on the sofa.
‘I wonder if Dee likes guys…’
That was the root of the problem. Dee hadn’t mentioned having a girlfriend, and if he was straight there was nothing to worry about, but if he wasn’t… Ryo might have to confront the truth about himself.
