Torchwood’s archives were full of weird and wonderful objects. The sole purpose of the vast underground labyrinth of interconnecting rooms, caverns, and passageways was to provide sufficient storage space for more than a century’s worth of largely unidentified, not to mention unwanted, items snatched from almost anywhere in the universe, and any time period. Needless to say, there were a lot.

Ianto was doing his best to sort, classify, and catalogue everything, which was no mean feat, but he was constantly hampered by the fact that most of the time he was having to just make his best guess as to what the various items might be.

Jack recognised some things, or at least he claimed to, although he was only correct about seventy percent of the time. Tosh, when she had the time to make a thorough investigation into some of the weird bits of technology that had been collected, was at least usually able to figure out what they did and roughly how they worked. But all of that still only accounted for a small percentage of items.

Ianto frowned at the lumpy yellowish object on his workbench and sighed, painstakingly logging it into the system.

Unidentified #79584.
