A/N: Double drabble.
Teaching a young child to keep a secret was about as easy as it sounded. Meriel knew she mustn’t tell people about her friendly alien playmate. Jack and Ianto had done their best to explain all the reasons why in a way their daughter could understand, but despite that, there was bound to be an occasional slip-up, especially now that she was at school and mixing more with other kids.
Just the other day, her teacher had mentioned to Ianto what a wonderful imagination Meriel had.
“I asked all the children to draw a picture of their favourite person and then they all took a turn to tell a story about whoever they’d drawn. The other children drew pictures of their parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, but Meriel drew a green furry snake and said it was her best friend. Then she told us some of the fun things they do together.”
So here Ianto was, busy making a stuffed toy version of Nosy so Meriel could take it to school with her next week and show off her ‘best friend’ to her classmates. The things parents had to do! He hoped all the other kids wouldn’t want one.
