“I suggest you both familiarise yourselves with the salient details pertaining to these cases,” Commissioner Rose said, handing over several manila folders before dismissing Dee and Ryo from his office. “We’ll be splitting into two teams for this investigation to maximise our effectiveness.”
“Yes, Sir.” Ryo led the way back to their desks in the squad room.
“Salient details? Pertaining? Maximise our effectiveness?” Dee snorted. “Why can’t Rose just speak plain English like the rest of us? Every time he opens his mouth he always has to fancy everythin’ up, like he’s tryin’ to prove he’s better than us. He could’a just said, ‘read these, get clued up, divide and conquer’. Direct and to the point.”
Ryo grinned. “Maybe you should’ve been put in charge of this task force.”
“Would’a made more sense to assign a senior detective to head it up; better than havin’ the Commish himself runnin’ things. You’d think he had enough goin’ on playin’ politics, shakin’ hands, and kissin’ babies. He loves bein’ the center of attention though, can’t have some schmuck like me stealin’ his limelight.”
Although he didn’t dislike Commissioner Rose the way Dee did, Ryo had to agree. “He should learn to delegate.”
