This is one of the hardest parts of being a detective in serious crimes. Neither Dee nor Ryo enjoy it, but Ryo has a knack for getting information out of traumatised victims. Maybe it’s his innate kindness, the fact that he so obviously and genuinely cares.
The girl is in her late teens, possibly early twenties, a college student, brutally attacked on the way back to her dorm from her part-time job waitressing at a local restaurant. The reason for the attack might have been robbery, her wages and tips were taken, along with the locket she wore, but it might also have been racially motivated. There has been a spate of similar attacks in the area recently.
“I know this is difficult for you, and I’m sorry we have to put you through it, but I need you to try to remember as much as you can about the man who attacked you, approximate age and height, skin and hair color, any tattoos or scars you might have noticed.”
The girl nods. “I’ll try, but it all happened so fast.” She’s trembling, and Dee doesn’t blame her.
He and Ryo will get this bastard, no matter what it takes.
