Ryo was a little on the merry side, which was the polite way of saying he was high as a kite. He hadn’t even had anything to drink, or nothing with alcohol in it, just tea, and water for his meds.
The problem, as Dee had discovered some years ago, was that Ryo and prescription meds, or Ryo and over-the-counter cold meds for that matter, weren’t always a good mix. Some people reacted in odd ways to certain types of medication, and it was just Ryo’s luck that he happened to be one of those people.
On the plus side, he seemed perfectly happy, and at least this time he hadn’t accidentally become convinced he was a duck. That was a relief; at least he wouldn’t try to fly away.
On the downside, he was going to be no use at work while he was taking the painkillers and anti-inflammatories the hospital had prescribed for his torn bicep, the result of a nasty fall while chasing a suspect.
Right now he was deep in conversation with the armchair, or possibly someone only he could see who happened to be sitting there.
Dee could only hope the weird side-effects wouldn’t last.
