A/N: Triple drabble.
When he walked into a room, Dee always caused a stir. At six feet two inches tall, with his jet-black hair, olive toned skin, and startlingly vivid green eyes he was striking to look at, and he moved well, with a lithe, unconscious grace that drew people’s attention. Dressed as he was now, in a smart suit and tie, he could easily pass for a male model, or a movie star, and he exuded a confidence that Ryo could only envy.
Woman smiled and flirted as Dee passed by, so did some of the men, and a pang of jealousy swept through Ryo as Dee smiled coolly back, accepting their compliments, although doing nothing to encourage them. Ryo felt like a drab little sparrow compared to his gorgeous partner. They were here as part of their job, providing security at this cocktail party, and yet Dee could easily pass for one of the guests while everyone present could probably tell at a glance that Ryo was staff.
It wasn’t even that Ryo wanted the kind of attention Dee was drawing; he’d just as soon fade into the background and not be noticed at all, it would be so much easier to do his job that way. But half the guests here were probably thinking of ways to seduce Dee, and they were so much better, not to mention wealthier, than Ryo was.
“Not jealous, are ya?” Dee asked, pausing beside Ryo.
He shrugged. “You could have anyone you wanted; I’m not in the same class.”
“Thank God for that. They’re a bunch of stuck-up snobs. Some of ‘em might be pretty enough to look at, but it’s just surface. What’s inside isn’t anywhere near as appealin’; they don’t have what you’ve got, and they never will.”
“And what’s that?”
“Me.”
