“Hold still!” Dee grumbled. “You’re as bad as the House Ape! You keep fidgetin’ like that you’re gonna end up with the bandage either too tight or too loose.”
Ryo scowled at his lover, who was trying to strap up his right wrist. “I don’t know why you’re even bothering. I’ll just wind up having to take it off anyway; it’s bound to get in the way. How am I supposed to wash my hands with it bound up like that? And there’s no way I can wear a bandage when I’m fixing dinner.”
“Are ya sure ya didn’t hit your head when ya fell? ‘Cause you’re not makin’ sense. For one thing, you have a badly sprained wrist, and that’s not gonna heal if ya don’t follow the doc’s orders. There’s gonna be a lot of stuff ya won’t be doin’ until the swellin’ goes down, startin’ with fixin’ dinner.”
“But it’s fine, just a bit puffy. Don’t know why everyone’s making such a fuss when it hardly hurts at all.”
“You can be a complete idiot when ya set your mind to it. The only reason it’s not hurtin’ is ‘cause the doc shot ya full of painkillers. When they wear off ya won’t be sayin’ it doesn’t hurt. Plus I think ya need your eyes testin’ if ya call this a bit puffy. I catch ya takin’ this bandage off again, so help me, I’ll…” Dee trailed off, unable to come up with a suitable threat. “I’ll do somethin’ ya won’t like.” He finished binding Ryo’s injured wrist. “There. Guess you’re just gonna haveta learn to do stuff lefthanded for a while.”
Ryo glared at his bandaged wrist. “All this because I slipped on a patch of ice.”
“Winter’s a dangerous time of year, babe.”
“I noticed.”
