Friends are interchangeable.*deadpan*

No, that's not what Joyce means, more that there;'s no limit to the number of friends you can have and just because Buffy's leaving the friends she's got doesn't mean that she's going to be friendless where she's going.

Thank you.

Okay. I've moved house and changed schools a few times. It's pretty much the end of that old friendship/s. Then being the new girl, who awkwardly makes new ones at the next school, trying to avoid those who have a hidden agenda.

*pause*

I maybe projecting here.

Although it did largely work out that way for Buffy, and she managed to avoid being dragged into Cordelia's orbit.

That's true. Buffy's destiny as the Slayer was a deterrent from that kind of lifestyle. It also sounds like Buffy had to keep that a secret from her friends in the last school.

"After her first battle with Glory, Buffy compared her to Cordelia Chase;[1] in a sense, Glory had the typical fashionista mean girl characteristic of the Cordettes."*Wikipedia*

I'm still sad about Cordelia's fate.

Wikipedia is correct *grins*

Buffy needed friends who would support her.

I think the Cordelia storyline went off the rails. She and Angel should have remained just friends, and she should have just been vision girl.

It certainly helps.:)

Yes. They sometimes had their arguments, but overall were there for each other when it mattered.

In theory, (friends to lovers trope) it seemed like a natural progression, but for storytelling purposes, not so much.

The behind the scenes conflict and the Jasmine plot didn't help. At least Cordelia got to say goodbye to Angel, even if it was just in his head.

I heard Charisma Carpenter struggled to execute that last line but said in an interview afterwards she understood why Joss Whedon directed it that way.

I think it was a disservice to the characters, and I hated the Jasmine plot anyway.
