The New Year was a time for starting over, taking a good, hard look at yourself and the way you lived your life; making resolutions, focusing on self-improvement, the shedding of bad habits and the cultivation of good ones, like eating better, getting more exercise, drinking less…
Dee had quit smoking the year before, and though it had been tough for the first few months, he seldom missed it now. Everything tasted better, he had more energy, and more money. He’d never realised until he quit just how much he’d been spending on his cigs when he could have been using the money for other things, like saving up for a vacation in the sun.
The thing was, this year he didn’t want to make a new start. Looking at his life he couldn’t pinpoint a single thing he thought needed fixing or improving. He already felt like he had it all.
Okay, sure, there were aspects of his job he didn’t love, the paperwork, and wasting time sitting around in court waiting to testify, but his personal life?
He got to spend every day and night with the love of his life. What could possibly be better than that?
