Tosh had loved this little house when Jack had first brought her here. After the months she’d spent in the UNIT prison, locked in a stark, cramped cell, it had seemed almost indecently huge for one person.
Over the three years she’d lived there she’d redecorated, replaced many of the furnishings, and made it her own, a comfortable, cosy little nest that reflected her personality. But now, in the wake of Mary and her manipulations, it no longer felt like home.
The smell of Mary’s cigarette smoke still lingered in the air, and the thought of sleeping in the bed made Tosh shiver. Her happy place had been violated by an alien who’d pretended to care for her, even love her, in order to use her for her own purposes.
It almost broke Tosh’s heart, but she knew she couldn’t go on living there. The memory of everything she’d heard through that awful pendant would haunt her endlessly; she’d have no peace.
The only thing she could do was start over; find a new place to call home, new furniture, the works. She’d take with her only personal items, the rest could go with the house.
Time to reinvent herself.
