The more I think about it. The more I believe Riley shouldn't have been Buffy's love interest. Funny how a rewatch change's one's perspective.

I can understand her wanting a normal boyfriend, but he was the wrong choice.

Thank you!

Their first kiss only happened because the babbling didn't get in the way during "Hush". That speaks volumes on how their communication styles were going to be a problem in the long run. At least when it came to romantic feelings.

Yeah, thins might never have got off the ground if everyone hadn't lost their voice. Probably would've been better that way.

Yeah. People skills helps. They had a few chats before being involved and those conversations seemed to flow naturally. Riley should have just been a confidant.*shrugs*

They were both young, I guess everyone makes mistakes.

True. I assume Riley went soul searching before getting married.

Who knows? I mean he left Buffy then shows up back in Sunnydale just a few months later, married. He can't have really loved Buffy if he could get over her so fast.

Yeah. The situation wasn't just clean cut. He was leaning on Buffy to feel needed. While she wanted to be independent. Hence why they were better apart. Sometimes desires/lust is misinterpreted as love.

And then he abandoned her right when she needed him most.

Which goes back to my first point. Also Xander had to prompt Buffy.

So much for a healthy, normal relationship.
