A/N: This one’s a double drabble.

The sky is crystal clear tonight, not the slightest wisp of cloud visible overhead, and although this is New York, looking up Ryo can see stars twinkling above him, tiny points of light that in reality are massive balls of superheated gas, unimaginably far from earth.

Somehow they’re always more beautiful on cold nights like this, when frost forms on parked cars and rimes the edges of fallen leaves as if the earth is trying to outshine the glory of the night sky.

Gazing upwards, he holds his breath, not wanting to obscure the view, but in the end he has to let it out; his breath hangs before him in a cloud of water vapour, before quickly dissipating.

“You’re gonna catch your death standin’ around out here; come inside!” Dee urges from the stoop.

“In a minute.” Ryo keeps his eyes on the sky, trying to pick out constellations although he knows the city lights are probably too bright for that. “It’s so beautiful out here.” He’s cold, but still reluctant to abandon his stargazing.

“You’re crazy, you know that? Stand there much longer an’ you’ll be covered in frost.”

Laughing, Ryo gives in and follows his lover indoors.
