“Ianto! Fancy meeting you here! Who’s your friend?” Jack asked, having butted in while Ianto was enjoying a rare day out.
Rolling his eyes in exasperation Ianto turned to face his lover. Really, he should have known Jack would follow him; the quickest way to get Jack’s undivided attention was to ask for time off and not say where he was going. He should have said he had a dental appointment, or that there was laundry and cleaning to do; anything that wouldn’t pique Jack’s endless curiosity, but no, he’d just said he wanted the day off and had left it at that. Now he was paying the price.
“Jack, this is my sister, Rhiannon.”
“You have a sister? How come you never told me?”
“I thought you knew. It’s hardly a secret.”
“It’s not something I’d forget.” Jack offered his hand. “Captain Jack Harkness; it’s a pleasure to meet you. I can see the family resemblance.” He flashed his widest, most charming smile.
Rhiannon shook hands. “Nice to meet you too. Ianto never introduces me to his friends.”
“We’re not friends,” Ianto corrected hurriedly. “Jack’s my boss.” He glared Jack into silence, not ready to tell Rhiannon the rest.
