Summary: Ianto absolutely has to win this auction lot!

A/N: Double drabble.
Ianto was in a quandary; the item being auctioned, listed in the catalogue as an art nouveau candlestick, artist unknown, had no intrinsic value. It was, in fact, a Marmorran Q-Field Nullifier for a weather control device specific to the Marmorran homeworld, but since q-fields didn’t exist on earth, and neither did weather control devices for that matter, it was essentially useless.
It was, however, made from an alloy of metals and synthetic ceramic that wouldn’t be known on earth for another two thousand or so years, which meant Torchwood really needed to take custody of it before anyone looked at it too closely. It could be a disaster if it fell into the wrong hands, potentially disrupting delicate timelines regarding first contact with the Marmorrans themselves.
Unfortunately, for a machine component, it also happened to be a very appealing shape, and it shimmered softly in the lights of the auction hall. There was a lot of interest in it, at least a dozen people vying to win it. Bidding was already up to £1,130. If it went much higher, it would put Ianto over budget for the month, and with two weeks still to go.
Most expensive junk ever!
