Heavy grey clouds hung overhead, filling Dee with an all-pervading sense of gloom. When he’d checked the forecast last night it had looked like they might get some sunshine today, even a few hours of dry weather after almost two weeks of overcast skies and heavy rain, but now it looked like that welcome little break in the weather wouldn’t reach New York after all. It sucked. He almost would’ve preferred snow to the endless rain; at least it would’ve made everywhere seem lighter instead of depressingly gloomy.

With a heavy sigh he pulled his coat on, grabbed his umbrella, and made his way down to the street, glad he’d been able to park so close to his building’s entrance the night before; at least he shouldn’t get too wet in the short dash between the front door and his car.

Across the city, Ryo sipped coffee and smiled contentedly as he gazed out at the leaden skies and torrential rain, ruthlessly pushing down a twinge of guilt. He felt bad for Dee having to go out in that; he’d get drenched, but at the same time the bad weather made staying home on his day off so much sweeter.

The End
