A/N: Double drabble and a half, 250 words.
Dee checked himself in the mirror; the silvery grey Italian silk suit fitted as if it had been made for him, set off to perfection by the open-necked black shirt and the fancy silver belt buckle set with an oval of polished malachite. Clean-shaven and with his hair freshly cut he looked like a man with money to burn, which was just as well because that was exactly how he was meant to look.
There was just one thing missing.
“This looks great as far as it goes, but I can hardly show up at the meet in sneakers.”
“We know that,” one of the guys from narcotics said. “Just gotta find somethin’ suitable in your size. How about these?” He held up a pair of snakeskin cowboy boots.
“With this suit? You’ve gotta be kiddin’ me. I’d be made as a phoney like that.” He snapped his fingers. “Let me take a look.”
“Be my guest.”
It took Dee a little while, but eventually he unearthed the perfect thing; handcrafted Italian leather, black and shiny. Half a size too big, but they’d be fine if he wore two pairs of socks. It wasn’t as if anyone was gonna want to see inside his shoes. He found a clean rag and buffed the shoes, getting rid of a few specks of lint. They’d probably cost more than he made in a month, overtime included.
“Yeah, these’ll work.”
The best part of this type of undercover gig was definitely the outfits.
