Halloween Pendants

Oct 21, 2019 20:24

Every Halloween I like to offer the kids a little extra something along with their candy. I had intended to knit some little critters, but I was busy with other things and I never got started, so I decided to whip up a few pendants instead. I got a little carried away... Anyway, I promised a friend I'd post pictures, so here they are.

Thank you! I've had such a blast making them, I want to do more... Waiting for more charms to arrive, but I've ordered from China so it could be a while.

I wish I still had time for all that stuff. As it is I'm having to work my butt off just to make with 350k writing target. Unheard of since I usually do 500k no sweat.
I haven't touched my beads box for an age. Still have a bunch of stuff I'd made with the intention of selling but never did. There was an amazing bead wholesaler I used to buy stuff from. They were all the way across town and it took forever to get the train there but it was huge, like an Aladdins cave of beads and bobs, and cheap if you bought in bulk. They closed their Melbourne warehouse though, so I'd have to buy from them online, or another place in Sydney which isn't too bad. Buying online just isn't the same as seeing them first hand.

It's the lack of fic_promptly contest weeks =( I've sen you're really pushing hard though, so good luck, I hope you make it. I'm glad I only pledged 200k, even though I'm well past that, just because it's taken the pressure off.

I hadn't touched mine in forever either, and they're all over the place, so I've been rummaging in this box and that one... I just had the idea of doing pendants, and it was just going to be the charms, but ten I though... They could use a bit of something. I know! BEADS! I've bee giving away stuff the last few years that I made to sell. I could do with the money from selling, but the cost of a stall anywhere is prohibitive and I don't want to sell on ebay because then stuff has to be posted to buyers, so I just make and give away.

The bead warehouse sounds awesome, shame they closed. I much prefer seeing what I'm buying but I've ad to resort to ebay for the charms. Maybe next year if you pledge a little less for writing you'll have time to do a bit of crafting.

That is true. I've missed the pressure of contest and challenge weeks. That used to account for about 200k each year. There was also a shortage of other fests, torchwood_fest and no wintercompanion this year for my usual larger submissions. I had a few larger projects in the works but without a fixed deadline they just flounder.
I think maybe next year I will only pledge 250k, as I've been doing more reading books, and the first half of the year I was quite unwell and didn't write much, so maybe I can find time for other pursuits in there as well next year.

Th sounds like a good plan. I'll sign up for 200k again and then if I write more that's fine, but I can enjoy the writing without too much pressure. Contest Weeks were fun, but I'm not sure I could do one now anyway, or not as full-on as I used to go. Then again. seeing how many fills other people were managing always spurred me on.

I haven't read all that much in books or fanfic this year, but I'd like to have more time for that too. We both need to relax and avoid getting stressed, but I always end up pushing myself harder than I intend to, and then I get frazzled...
