FAKE Triple Drabble: Gunfight

A/N: Triple drabble.
The gunshot is deafening; bystanders dive for cover as the shooter fires again. Dimly, Ryo registers that Dee’s been hit, and panic flares in his chest but he forces it down, knowing he needs to focus on the danger at hand. There are civilian lives at risk, and though he desperately wants to check on his partner, he has something else to take care of first.
He’s taking aim and firing even as the thoughts flash through his mind; the gunman doesn’t get the chance to fire a third time, Ryo’s bullet hitting him in the right shoulder and spinning him to the ground, his gun falling from nerveless fingers.
“Dee, you okay?” he calls as he approaches the downed shooter, who’s writhing on the ground, groaning in agony. Ryo can’t feel any sympathy for him, not after the way he just put innocent people’s lives at risk trying to resist arrest.
“Hit my vest; I’ll live,” Dee grinds out between gritted teeth from where he’s sprawled on the sidewalk nearby, trying to get his breath back. Even with the vest on, getting shot at such close range is like getting kicked in the chest by a mule.
Ryo hasn’t so much as glanced in Dee’s direction, though he’s desperate to see for himself that the man he loves is okay. He needs to keep his eyes fixed on the injured gunman, in case he has another weapon. Toeing the fallen gun out of reach, he secures the man’s hands before calling for an ambulance, kneels to apply pressure to the wound and gets a breathless stream of profanity for his efforts. Can’t let the guy bleed out before he can be charged.
Then Dee’s beside him, wincing with every breath but still in one piece; Ryo can finally relax.
