“We don’t have enough space,” Jack announced one morning as he and Ianto were having a leisurely breakfast before the team arrived.
Ianto almost choked on his mouthful of coffee. The Hub was vast, umpteen levels below them going deep into the earth, passageways radiating out in all directions… Very little of the underground base was actually in use.
“Excuse me?” he said when he could speak again. “Not enough space? Have you looked at this place recently?”
“Yes, and that’s the problem! If we’re expanding the team, where’s everybody going to work? As it is, you usually end up doing your paperwork in my office, the tourist office, or down in the archives because we only have three computer workstations and the main Hub doesn’t really have the space to add more. There’s nowhere suitable to put them. And with more people, we’ll need a bigger break area; this sofa is already too small for five of us.”
Looking around, Ianto realised Jack was right; if they were bringing in a second doctor, hopefully Martha, she’d need somewhere to work, and the new field agents would each need their own desk…
“You’re right,” he sighed. “We need more space.”
