Ryo hadn’t known how to react when his new and very male partner had started hitting on him. If Dee had restricted himself to simple flirting, Ryo could have continued to ignore it, brushed it off as though it was just a joke, but then Dee had taken to kissing him at every opportunity, often for the most contrived reasons, and how could anyone ignore a kiss like that? Until Dee, no one had ever made Ryo weak at the knees with nothing more than a kiss.
So he acted annoyed, insisted he was straight, tried everything he could to persuade his partner he just wasn’t interested, not because he didn’t like Dee kissing him but because he did, too much.
He told himself he pushed Dee away because getting involved with someone he worked with was a bad idea. That was true, as far as it went, but the main reason was that Dee was awakening feelings Ryo had thought he’d managed to blot out. He didn’t want to be attracted to men, especially not to someone like Dee, who flirted with both men and women, and had a reputation for playing the field.
Ryo didn’t want to be drawn into something with a man he genuinely liked, only to get dumped; it would make working together intolerable. He wasn’t the kind of guy who indulged in casual sex. That was one of many reasons he’d never allowed himself to give in to his attraction towards men; he wanted a proper relationship, not a string of one-night stands, and from what he’d seen most of the single men in his age group were only after one thing. Dating women seemed like a safer bet.
But his willpower was crumbling. Why did Dee have to be so hard to resist?
