A/N: Triple drabble.

Resistance had been futile all along; Dee’s attentions, the desire he felt and acted upon, had whittled away at Ryo’s defences, eroding the walls he’d built around himself the way drops of water could wear massive holes in boulders, the way the sea could chip away at towering cliff faces. Ryo knew now that he’d never stood a chance.

If he’d been genuinely uninterested in Dee’s advances it would have been a different matter, but as hard as he’d tried to repress them he’d felt the stirrings of attraction from their first meeting, just as Dee obviously had. Dee, however, had never tried to resist what he was feeling, had instead willingly embraced the lust he felt while Ryo had tried to deny that he felt anything deeper than friendship for his work partner.

Looking back, Ryo was surprised he’d held out as long as he had, faced daily with Dee’s magnetic presence. He could scarcely comprehend why Dee hadn’t just given up and looked elsewhere, but then perhaps Dee had been helpless to resist as well. Perhaps they’d been drawn together, as Dee believed, by a kind of destiny that could not be thwarted by either one of them.

The one thing Ryo knew for sure was that with Dee was where he belonged. No matter what obstacles they’d had to overcome, and what they might still face in the future, he’d never regret falling for Dee, only that he’d kept them both waiting so long for the fulfilment they’d found in each other’s arms. Dee was his as much as Ryo was Dee’s, and that was exactly how it should be, but maybe his resistance had served some purpose, making them both appreciate each other more now that they were finally together.

Maybe that was how fate worked.

The End
