Summary: Something unusual has fallen through the Rift.

A/N: Double drabble.
Most of what came though the Rift was inanimate, objects or devices of some description, but Torchwood also dealt with a fair number of displaced creatures and the occasional sentient being, so when Tosh’s Rift monitor indicated something organic had come through, everyone went on high alert. Hopefully whatever had just arrived would prove friendly, but it was always wise to be prepared for anything.
When they reached the coordinates down at the mouth of the Rhymney, however, all they found was what looked like a huge snail shell, pearlescent pink in the morning sunlight.
Ianto stared at it. “Where’s Rex Harrison?”
Tosh giggled, Jack smirked, the other two looked blank.
“What, you’ve never seen Doctor Doolittle?” Ianto’s eyebrows shot up.
“Wasn’t that the one with Eddie Murphy?” said Gwen.
Ianto sighed. “I give up.”
“This’ll never fit in the boot.” Owen was walking around the shell, tapping on it and peering inside, until…
“Unhand my house, you knave!” a strident voice exclaimed.
Everyone spun to see a pink sluglike creature emerging from the water.
“Sorry,” said Jack. “Just looking to see if anyone was home.”
“Hmph.” The slug’s eyestalks swivelled towards Jack. “So much for my quiet seaside vacation.”
