A/N: Double drabble.
Cops, like soldiers, have their own language for situations like this; radios are all very well, but the way they crackle and squawk makes stealth impossible.
Times like this, it’s best not to let the bad guys get a bead on your location; distract them, get them aiming where they think you are rather than your actual position, and there’s a better chance of getting the drop on them without getting yourself or one of your colleagues filled with bullet holes. Vests provide a degree of protection, but they only cover so much; stray bullets and ricochets can hit anywhere.
So they communicate via hand gestures, indicating what they can see, which way each of them should go, what action to take: circle left, hold your position, two shooters, keep low… It’s amazing how much can be conveyed without a single word being spoken. Reading and understanding those gestures is a skill drummed into every police cadet during training; it can mean the difference between life and death in a dangerous situation.
Dee catches Ryo’s eyes, gestures, and Ryo nods. They move in unison, rolling out of cover, opening fire, hitting their targets…
“No fair!” yells Bikky. Another paintballing loss.
