As far as Dee was concerned, the worst thing about police work wasn’t the long hours, or the very real danger to life and limb; it was the endless paperwork he had to deal with. He hated it with a vengeance and every day when he sat down at his desk he hoped there’d be less of it to do, but there never seemed to be, not even back in the days when he’d been able to foist the bulk of it off on Ryo. Now that he was expected to do his fair share it was even worse.

There seemed to be paperwork for everything! Sometimes he wondered how cops were expected to find the time to actually investigate crimes when they practically had to write down everything that happened on their shift, in triplicate. One of these days, someone would probably decide they needed to fill in a form to say which forms they’d filled in. It was ridiculous!

Sighing in resignation, he pulled out one of the standard incident report forms and started to fill it in. The streets were rife with crime; he should be out there, chasing down the criminals, putting them behind bars. Instead here he was, at his desk, filling in a bunch of forms; all because a graffiti artist he and Ryo had rousted a couple of days before had decided to get revenge by spray painting a giant pink pig on the hood of their otherwise unmarked police vehicle.

It sucked!

The End
