A/N: Double drabble.
“Alright,” said Ryo, after running his partner through fifteen minutes of warm-up exercises, stretching and limbering up. “Are you ready?”
“Good question.” Despite his earlier eagerness, Dee sounded a bit apprehensive.
“You’re the one who wanted to learn karate,” Ryo reminded him. “If you’ve changed your mind I wish you’d have told me before we started. There are other things I could be doing with my time off.
“I haven’t changed my mind, I’m just a bit nervous. Or isn’t that allowed?”
“You’ve done hand-to-hand before, police academy training at the very least, and don’t tell me you didn’t get into fights as a kid; I’ve heard Mother’s stories.”
“That’s different and you know it. Street kids fight dirty; no rules, just get in there and beat the crap outta each other. What you do, the martial arts stuff…” Dee trailed off.
“I’m aware of the differences, but this will improve your balance, reflexes, and flexibility, strengthen and tone your entire body, and teach you more efficient ways of disarming and subduing an opponent. You have a lot to learn, but if I didn’t think you could do it I wouldn’t have agreed to teach you.”
“Okay; let’s do this!”
