Ianto is really very good for Jack, who has learned to appreciate all the benefits of living with someone who loves him, but makes him do his share and is certain to treat him well

They share the nasty chores because Ianto isn't mean, making Jack do them all, or a sucker, doing them all himself. He treats Jack as his equal, which I think is why they work so well. He doesn't stick Jack up on a pedestal.
