A/N: This one’s a triple drabble.
Ryo never meant to forget important dates, anniversaries and such, but there was always so much going on in his life that sometimes it could be hard to keep track of everything. He’d tried marking things down on his wall calendar, only then he forgot to check it every day and even when he did, his notes didn’t always make sense to him. He remembered birthdays, mostly, because Bikky and Dee both dropped plenty of hints in advance, but anniversaries were different somehow.
Dee always seemed to remember all of them; first kiss, first time they slept together, second time, first proper date… In a lot of ways, Dee was more romantic than Ryo could ever hope to be. It made Ryo feel loved, special, but also frustrated with himself for being so forgetful.
He was determined to remember this time though. He had everything planned; Bikky was staying the night at Carol’s, Ryo had beef casserole simmering in the slow cooker all day, and there was a bottle of red wine on the kitchen counter. Dessert was to be strawberries and cream, and would most likely end up being eaten in bed…
When Dee arrived for dinner, Ryo greeted him at the door with a single red rose. “Happy Anniversary, Dee!”
“Thank you, babe,” Dee said solemnly, accepting the rose and kissing Ryo. “You do know our anniversary isn’t until next week, right?”
Ryo groaned. “I can’t believe I got it wrong again! I tried so hard to remember…”
“Doesn’t matter,” Dee said, looking around the candlelit room, with the table set for two, and soft music playing. “Who cares if it’s a bit early? This is wonderful.”
“At least I didn’t forget this year.” Ryo gave a wry smile. “I guess that’s a step in the right direction.”
