Poor Buffy and Angel, their doomed romance was so beautiful but so sad.

I first saw them together in the Angel episode, "I Will Remember You". Before that, I knew that BtVS existed and then wound up watching Angel instead - and that episode is the one that really cemented my love for both of those characters and how much they loved each other.

That episode always breaks my heart into tiny pieces. So does part 2 of Becoming, Buffy knowing Angel has his soul back but having to kill him anyway.

Oh, definitely. There's something between them that just fascinates me (and I'm not really into a lot of romance-type stories).

Me neither, I've never been a romance reader or viewer - give me SF or fantasy! There's just something epic about this kind of love across the ages, a man from Ireland in the 1700s, a girl from California in the 1990s... It was always going to be bittersweet at best.
