Project Completed!

I've been working on this for a couple of weeks, charting the design before stitching it, and I'm rather pleased with the result. The coffee cup motif is from Cross Stitcher Issue 262 and the main alphabet is from Issue 265. I designed the border myself. I plan to stitch it again, but with a wider border to fit in a frame I bought ( Read more... )

Very nice! It's been a long time since I stitched anything. In fact, I still have an unfinished product because in the meantime I seriously fell out with the actor on the picture...

What exactly does 16 count / 18 count mean? Is it now smaller or bigger because of this?

The count is the number of holes per inch so 18 count has 18 holes per inch and 16 count has 16 holes per inch, so the project is a bit bigger than I originally intended. Also, I was only using one strand of thread because I stitch faster that way, so the fabric shows through more than it would have using 18 count. Still, I'm pleased, I think the design turned out quite well.

Thank you. I hope you get inspired to stitch again at some point, it's a very enjoyable hobby.

Yeah, I like the stitching act itself, but I never have any idea what to do with the work when it's finished. My walls are full already and I don't like cushions much.

This is the unfinished work, btw.:

That looks very complicated!

No, I haven't seen it before so you must have shown it to someone else. I hope you get it finished though. I've never tried to chart anything on that scale without using a computer program - which is a lot easier, lol! Well done, I doubt that I could do it that way for such a large and detailed picutre.

LOL I did that a long long time ago, I didn't even have a computer back then! Must have been the Nineties. I was in full fan mode back then.

It's supposed to be David Hasselhoff and his (then) wife, btw. I got the pic from a magazine. But somewhere along the way I started to lose interest in him and then stopped being a fan altogether, and now I don't even want to think about him anymore as I cannot get over the fact how much he has lied to us during all those years. I cannot forgive that and I am just glad that with John I will never experience such disappointment.

Ah, I see, so you don't want to work on it, but you don't want to throw it out either after all the work you put into it. I guess some things are just never destined to be finished.

Stars do sometimes disappoint us, it's sad but it happens. I hope you'll get back to stitching something that appeals to you now though.
